Artist's Description

Wast Water or Wastwater is a lake located in Wasdale, a valley in the western part of the Lake District National Park, England. The lake is almost 3 miles long (4.6 km) and more than a third of a mile (600 m) wide. It is the deepest lake in England at 258 feet (79 m), and is owned by the National Trust. It is one of the finest examples of a glacially 'over-deepened' valley. The surface of the lake is about 200 feet above sea level, while its bottom is over 50 feet below sea level.

About Nick Atkin

Nick Atkin

I enjoy landscape photography in my spare time. I got my first DSLR (Canon 40D) in April 2008 and then upgraded to a Canon 5D MK II in March 2010. Most of my photography is from the UK with the odd shot here and there from holidays abroad.
